
The Hon Lord Menzies (Duncan Adam Young Menzies)
Lord Menzies was appointed a Judge of the Supreme Court in 2001. He is a graduate of the University of Oxford (M.A., Wadham College) and the University of Edinburgh (LL.B.). He was admitted to the Faculty of Advocates1 in 1978 and was Standing Junior Counsel2 to Admiralty from 1984 to 1991. He was appointed Queen's Counsel in 1991.
Lord Menzies served as Temporary Sheriff from 1996 to 1997. Lord Menzies was Chairman of the Scottish Planning, Local Government and Environmental Bar Group from 1997 to 2001. He was Faculty ADR Provider and was a Member of Faculty Council from 1997 to 2001. He served as Advocate Depute3 from January to October 1998 and as Home Advocate Depute from 1998 to 2000.
